SAN ANTONIO – March 13, 2017 - Howard Midstream Energy Partners, LLC (HEP) announced today that it has added two new industry veterans to its growing leadership team. The company appointed Roy Patton as Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President, and Brett Braden as General Counsel and Senior Vice President. Both appointments are effective immediately.
Roy Patton comes to Howard Energy Partners with nearly 35 years of experience in the natural gas pipeline industry. His experience spans all aspects of commercial activities including gathering and processing, high-pressure transmission pipelines, business development, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining HEP, Patton was senior vice president of commercial operations at Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. (ETP), where his responsibilities included the management of approximately 7,500 miles of pipelines in Texas and Louisiana and more than 60 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage. Patton most recently oversaw ETP’s activities in Mexico and was responsible for creating approximately 1 billion cubic feet per day of new business and developing more than 300 miles of 42-inch pipeline with more than 2.5 billion cubic feet per day of capacity from the Permian Basin to Mexico.
Brett Braden has been an energy lawyer in Houston for almost 20 years. Most recently prior to joining HEP, Braden served as a founding partner at Latham & Watkins LLP’s Houston office, which he helped form in 2010. Primarily focused on corporate finance and merger and acquisition matters, Braden has comprehensive experience representing MLPs and other companies engaged in the upstream, midstream and service sectors of the oil and gas industry. Additionally, Braden has experience representing both public and private energy companies in divestitures, joint ventures, and corporate governance and compliance matters. Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Braden was a partner at Vinson & Elkins LLP in Houston.
“Adding two new executives like Roy and Brett to our leadership team is a significant win for Howard Energy as we continue to grow and diversify our business in the North American market,” said Brad Bynum, Howard Energy Partners President. “The creation of the new Chief Commercial Officer role is an important component of our overall growth strategy. Roy Patton’s proven ability to develop large-scale projects, combined with his extensive customer relationships, are valuable additions to our already-strong and innovative commercial team.
“Additionally, we are very pleased to add a professional of Brett Braden’s quality and experience to the senior management team as General Counsel,” continued Bynum. “Brett has an extensive background in energy capital markets and M&A activity with dozens of energy M&A transactions and MLP IPO’s to his credit. Brett’s experience and industry contacts will be invaluable to Howard and our continued success.”
