Howard Energy Partners (HEP) today announced that Dr. Scott W. Tinker was appointed to HEP’s Board of Directors (“Board”).
“We are pleased to welcome Scott to the HEP board,” said Mike Howard, HEP Chairman and CEO. “I am confident his vast experience and knowledge in industry, government, and academia will advance our company’s ability to create innovative solutions for our customers and our communities.”
Dr. Tinker spent 17 years in the energy industry in the 1980s and 1990s and is winding down 24-years as the Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology, the State Geologist of Texas, and as a professor holding the Allday Endowed Chair in the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin. He is the founder and Chairman of the nonprofit Switch Energy Alliance, a documentary filmmaker, and hosts the energy and climate talk show, Energy Switch, on more than 250 PBS stations, and a weekly public radio show, Earth Date, on over 450 stations nationwide.

Dr. Tinker serves on the Board of Trustees at Trinity University and is a Trustee Associate for Southwest Research Institute. Dr. Tinker has served on many public and private boards and is an angel investor helping bring companies from startup to acquisition. He has been president of several international professional societies, and is an AGI Campbell Medalist, AAPG Halbouty Medalist, GCAGS Boyd Medalist, AIPG Parker Medalist, and a Geological Society of America Fellow.
